Anniversary/Last Hurrah

We had a little getaway this weekend to celebrate our anniversary. I have been looking forward to it for a couple months and as the date got closer I just hoped I'd stay pregnant long enough to make the trip! Now we feel fully ready to welcome baby girl cook:)

We drove up to Russian River and stayed right on the river at this hotel/lodge. It's owned by this eclectic German couple and has a very rustic feel (aka I killed 4 spiders upon arrival). There are only 12 bedrooms and a large restaurant with a deck overlooking the water. 

We were on the second floor on the left with our own little deck and staircase down to the water. The scenery was gorgeous. Reminded us both of Vermont, did NOT feel like California which made the 'getaway' part that much more realistic.

Our deck again, a shot of the "beach" where we spent Saturday swimming and lounging around. The river was super wide, slow current, only about chest deep, and mild! For being 9 months pregnant it was the perfect place to r-e-l-a-x!

At night a SUPER thick fog would roll in over the hills and trees. You can see the start of it here beyond the bridge.

The whole area felt like it was preserved in late 60's/early 70's time warp. It reminded me a lot of the scenery in the movie Stand By Me (which I love).

This little theater was rated as the #2 thing to do in Monte Rio by Trip Advisor...soooo you get the idea:)

We drove out to Goat's Rock Beach which is listed as one of California's most dangerous beaches due to the crazy currents and rip tides. But it was gorgeous to just walk around. Even though the fog is pretty much permanent it was a really warm day! 

Annnnnnnd that is my 9 month high kick. Pathetic haha.

We then drove through a couple neighboring towns for some sightseeing and food. 

It was the perfect weekend getaway. No crowds no traffic beautiful weather and scenery and just one on one time with my husband. A great way to celebrate 4 years of marriage and our last days as two.

4 years Married

I selected these pictures pretty quickly and realized I was going to leave out a lot of fun memories! Wow. We've done a lot these past 4-5 years. We've loved the time that we've spent just the two of us together and looking back I realize that we've really made the most of it. Everytime someone says "Oh be sure to enjoy your time now because once that baby comes, you'll never have a moment alone again," I just laugh. 


We've had over 4 years of moments alone. We've really gotten to know each other, grown up, gone on adventures, learned how to fight fair, and waited patiently for the right time to start out family. We couldn't be happier, more sure of our decision, or more excited for what the future holds.   Now we are just waiting for Cook party of 2 to become Cook party of 3, and then we will have someone else to take along on our adventures!
